Learn more about our mission

About Us

Cats in the Cradle Rescue is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to helping reduce the overpopulation of cats through rescue, adoptions and education.

Rescue Operations

Most days you will find our team conducting rescue operations for social cats and kittens around the Queens borough.

Cat Adoptions

We believe that for every cat there is a perfect home.  Nothing gives us more pleasure than rehabilitating a lost cat and finding a loving home that they can call their own.

Who Are We?

Cats in the Cradle Rescue was formed in June 2011 to help reduce the cat overpopulation of feral and stray domestic cats. Cats in the Cradle Rescue is a 501(c)3 organization that is staffed by the founding members and volunteers who graciously give their time and open their homes to help CITCR accomplish our mission.

Our Mission

The core mission at Cats in the Cradle Rescue is to rescue social cats and kittens, manage the adoption of cats to loving homes in the Queens, New York area.

Rescue Operations

CITCR rescues social cats and kittens

  • who are trapped or found amongst feral colonies during the performance of TNR;
  • from NYC’s Animal Care and Control where they are at high risk for euthanasia
  • that have been found by the public when there has been no success in finding the rightful owner

Cat Rehabilitation

Cats in the Cradle Rescue works with local government animal control centers in the Queens area to help reduce the feral cat population.  Once cats are in our care we identify what treatments are required to rehabilitate the cats, and if any surgery is involved, CITCR will then hold them pre and post surgery.  Once the cats are rehabilitated, Cats in the Cradle prepares the cats for foster care or permanent home adoptions.  Please note that CITCR does not relocate cats.
